Svalbard – im deutschen Sprachgebrauch vorwiegend als Spitzbergen bekannt – ist der nördlichste ganzjährig bewohnte Archipel der Welt und liegt im Arktischen Ozean auf etwa 80° Nord. Ein Besuch im Winter ist ein ganz besonderes Erlebnis und stellt für ein fotografisches Projekt eine spezielle Herausforderung dar. Das Buch ist unterteilt in die 3 Kapitel: «Pyramiden», eine russische Geisterstadt / Landschaftsimpressionen von den Fahrten mit dem Schneemobil / die Hauptstadt Longyearbyen.


Svalbard is the northernmost archipelago in the world inhabited all year long and lies in the arctic ocean at 80° north. A visit during winter time is a very special experience for sure and to realize a photographic project under arctic conditions is a real challenge. The book is divided into 3 chapters: the russian mining ghost town «Pyramiden» / landscape impressions from driving over frozen fjords and glaciers with the snowmobile / the main settlement Longyearbyen.
